Clyde Davis (Poppie Mack), 87 years old of McKinleyville, passed away
peacefully on April 12, 2019.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Ocean View in the Military Section. Burial will follow.
Arrangements are by Paul’s Chapel, Arcata.
Mack Davis was born in Kaufman County, Texas, to Elzie and Dovie Davis on March 9, 1932. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was awarded a Purple Heart and many other medals during his service. He was honorably discharged on May 1, 1952. He moved to California and stayed in Humboldt County for the remainder of his life, where he owned and operated Pacific Drywall for over 30 years. He was involved in many hobbies, such as collecting classic cars, racing and hunting.
Avid enthusiasts, Mack and his partner, Shirley, attended many car shows together, where he proudly displayed one of his own “Classic Beauties.” He was a member of the Northern California Houndsman Association and provided a guide service to out of town hunters. He was also a member of the McKinleyville Moose Lodge. He loved NASCAR and could always be found on Sunday afternoons in his recliner enjoying the race!
Mack Clyde Davis is survived by his first wife, Patricia Skelton, and their children, Richard & Rita Davis and Gary & Beverly Davis. He is also survived by his loving life partner Shirlene Williams and their two children, Melissa Martindale and was preceded in death by Darlene Barnett. He is survived by his two siblings, Valerie Ruff and Etta Haught, and his herd of eleven grandchildren — Ericka, Gary, Kelly, Mark, Nina, Terra, Bryon, Zach, Mitch, Brandon, Derrick — and 11 great-grandchildren, Bryant, Janiqua, Gabriel Jaden, Jalen, Diego, Dominic, Donovan, Delilah, Julian, Adrena and Brandon Jr.
