Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The CR women closed out the season with four wins in their final six games.

After closing out the season strong and getting a little help from a conference rival, the College of the Redwoods softball team clinched third in the Golden Valley Conference.

The Corsairs, who finished up over the weekend with a sweep of Butte, closed out with a record of 9-11 in conference.

And thanks to Shasta sweeping Butte on Tuesday, the Corsairs and Roadrunners each finish with identical conference records, behind only Shasta and Feather River, each of whom are 17-3.

The CR women, however, finish third courtesy of a tiebreaker, having won the season series against Butte, 3-1.

The conference finish comes after the Corsairs won four of their final six games.

The Redwoods women were certainly exciting to watch in conference play, with nine of their 11 games decided by a single run.

CR was 5-4 in those one-run games, including winning the last three.

The Corsairs close out with an overall record of 13-21.
