Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls from citizens reporting a female on
Cummings Road in Eureka that appeared to be in distress. It was also reported the female was in
possession of a firearm.
Deputies arrived on scene and located Anna Caudle, age 43,
of Eureka, in possession of a handgun.
Anna had an apparent injury to her hand.
Anna did not follow the commands of the deputies regarding the
firearm. A brief struggle ensued as
Deputies tried to secure the firearm and detain Anna. The Taser was deployed and Anna was
eventually detained. Once Anna was detained, deputies noticed that she had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her right
hand. This wound was sustained prior to
law enforcement contact. Anna was also found to be in possession of a large sum

Anna was not cooperative in providing information about how
or where she was injured. Anna was arrested
and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
At about 8:00 AM, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office

responded and located a residence that did in fact have blood present and evidence of a
firearm being discharged. A vehicle that
was registered to Anna was located in the driveway. A search warrant was obtained for the
residence. Deputies served that warrant
and located an additional large sum of cash, 30 pounds of marijuana and small
amounts of methamphetamine and heroin. No additional persons were located.
