On 08-23-2019, at about 6:00 AM, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls from citizens reporting a female on Cummings Road in Eureka that appeared to be in distress. It was also reported the female was in possession of a firearm.
Deputies arrived on scene and located Anna Caudle, age 43, of Eureka, in possession of a handgun. Anna had an apparent injury to her hand. Anna did not follow the commands of the deputies regarding the firearm. A brief struggle ensued as Deputies tried to secure the firearm and detain Anna. The Taser was deployed and Anna was eventually detained. Once Anna was detained, deputies noticed that she had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her right hand. This wound was sustained prior to law enforcement contact. Anna was also found to be in possession of a large sum of cash.
Anna was not cooperative in providing information about how or where she was injured. Anna was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
At about 8:00 AM, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received information from a citizen that blood had been located in a residence on Heaven Lane in Eureka. Heaven Lane is located off Cummings Road. Deputies responded and located a residence that did in fact have blood present and evidence of a firearm being discharged. A vehicle that was registered to Anna was located in the driveway. A search warrant was obtained for the residence. Deputies served that warrant and located an additional large sum of cash, 30 pounds of marijuana and small amounts of methamphetamine and heroin. No additional persons were located.
Anna was treated and released from the hospital. She was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on the following charges: PC 417(a)(1), PC 69, H&S 11370.1, H&S 11359, H&S 1366, H&S 1377(a) and H&S 11350(a).
The case is still being investigated.
