High elevation areas of Trinity County are forecast to receive 8 to 12 inches of snow today.

Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that the Scott Mountain Summit area will likely be the most affected as snow is usually not removed from that stretch of Highway 3 on weekends.

A coastal flood advisory was also issued for the Humboldt Bay area this morning due to high tides. However, the advisory was only in effect until 10 a.m.

King Salmon and Jackson Ranch Road in the Arcata Bottoms were forecast to see the worst of the flooding, with up to a half-foot of saltwater in low-lying areas.

The NWS expects a moderate amount of rain to fall across the Emerald Triangle throughout the day.
