This morning Heidi McHugh, education and outeach coordinator for Eureka’s Food For People, spoke with Lydsey Battle of KHUM radio about what might happen to any number of programs providing food services to low-income people in Humboldt County — including food stamps; Women, Infants and Children; and others — if the current federal shutdown continues.

Bottom line: Some of these services are running on reserves, and could disappear quickly if funding is not restored soon.
