Eureka set a new heat record for today with a high of 71 degrees, edging out the previous record of 70 degrees set in 2005.

“Did [it] feel usually warm today along the coast? It was,” Eureka’s National Weather Service office wrote on social media. “These warm temperatures set a high temperature record for the date in Eureka.”

Temperatures are forecast to drop back into the 60s for the remainder of the week.
