From the County of Humboldt:
Some flights at the California Redwood Coast – Humboldt County Airport (ACV) may be affected through Monday as a result of necessary upgrades being done by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to their navigational equipment on the airport’s main runway. The work is expected to be complete by Monday, July 29.
The instrument landing system helps pilots land in challenging weather situations, and it has been fully operational to this point. However, due to FAA guidelines certain components of this system need to be upgraded periodically. Typically, flights with heavy rain or fog will be most impacted.
“I know the FAA is working as quickly and efficiently as they can to get this replacement done,” said Cody Roggatz, Director of Aviation. “Their team is working diligently to minimize disruptions to flights, but some arriving and departing flights may be impacted until this work is done.”
