Flutemaker Tim Blueflint’s work will be featured this month at the 2nd St Gallery 

California Redwoods Art Association: California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, located at 1228 2nd St, will exhibit a collection from July’s Artist of the Month, Billye Woodford. They will be hosting the annual 4th of July Arts and Crafts Show at the Crescent City Cultural Center at 1001 Front Street today and tomorrow; they are featuring flutemaker Tim Blueflint. The Gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including: Sutter Coast Hospital and their Infusion Center, Vita Cucina, and Wild Rivers Community Foundation. 4th of July Community Marching Band: The community is invited to participate in the 4th of July Community Marching Band during the parade. All are welcome regardless of age or ability and loaner instruments are available. Practice will take place at 6:00 p.m. tonight at the Del Norte High Music Room at 1301 El Dorado St in Crescent City. The group will then meet at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow for the annual parade. Gallery of Arts and Culture: The Gallery of Arts and Culture at 175 H St is featuring artists Marianne Strehler and Daniel Desmond at their Open House during the Downtown Divas’ First Friday from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both artists will be in attendance to discuss their paintings, Jerry Bauer will provide live music, and Mark and Delphi Danner will provide refreshments. Strehler has been drawing since she was a child and later began painting in oils and acrylics; her self-imposed challenge is to capture the essential beauty and uniqueness of an object. Desmond has been painting in oils for over 60 years and in watercolors and acrylics for 30 years; he focuses on landscapes and seascapes. The Gallery also has watercolor paintings by Nan Marie Wineinger on display at Redwood Urgent Care at 286 M S where the public is welcome to meet the staff and enjoy the art. Coast Redwoods Art Association: Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, located at 140 Marine Way, will display a collection of artwork by their Artist of the Month for July, Muriel Northrip. July’s demo will be led by Phillip Wadsworth at noon on July 25, preceded by a potluck. Saturdays from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at the gallery include a papier maché program. Sundays from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. include a still-life drawing group. Mondays from 10:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. offer a space and good company for artists and crafters. The Del Norte County Library at 190 Price Mall is also displaying work by member artists. The prospectus for their 15th Annual Juried Art Competition is now available with entry forms and fees due by August 24. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Art in Public Places: The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit in the Del Norte Superior Court at 450 H St in Crescent City is titled “Around Here,” a collection of oil paintings by Julie Smiley. This exhibit will be available for viewing through August 8. The courthouse is open from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays. DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibit on the mezzanine of the CEC terminal at 1650 Dale Rupert Rd is titled “Watercolor,” a collection of paintings by David Howell, also available for viewing through August 8. The airport terminal’s regular hours are 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. weekdays, 6:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Saturdays, and 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sundays. Arts for Veterans: The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is pleased to announce that we received a grant for the upcoming year of Arts for Veterans programming. Our next course of guitar workshops with teaching artist Dale Morgan starts July 8 in the Fireside Room of the VFW Hall at 810 H St in Crescent City. Beginning class will take place from 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m. on Mondays July 8 through August 26. Intermediate class will take place from 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m. on Tuesdays July 9 through August 27. Our next creative writing workshop with teaching artist Sharon McKinney will take place from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturdays July 13 through August 31 at the Del Norte Senior Center at 1765 Northcrest Dr in Crescent City. We will offer the next drum circle with local musician Mombo Hernandez from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Saturday July 27 at Templeman Grove in Hiouchi. Hand drums, percussion instruments, and chairs will be provided. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans and their family members. Families are eligible whether or not the veteran participates. DNACA’s Fair Exhibit: If you are a northern California or southern Oregon artist who is 65 years or older, the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is hoping you will enter our “Celebrating the Creative Arts of Older Community Members” exhibit to be held from August 1-4 during the Del Norte County Fair in the Floral building. Each artist may enter up to three works and the works may be two- or three-dimensional. Modest cash awards will be given. The entry fee is $10 per work and entry forms and fees must be mailed to PO Box 1480, Crescent City 95531, postmarked no later than Friday, July 26. Entry forms may also be emailed to dnaca_cc@icloud.com by July 26 with fees being paid at the time of artwork delivery. DNACA’s 37th Performance Series Pre-Sale Season Tickets: The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness has limited quantities of pre-sale season tickets available before its 2019-20 season lineup is announced on August 12. Pre-sale season tickets provide not only a discount to the five individual performances, but also to regular season tickets. Concerts this season will be on Saturday, September 21; Saturday, November 16; Friday, February 21; Friday, April 3; and Saturday, May 9. All concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. and take place at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St in Crescent City. Just like regular season tickets, pre-sale season tickets are transferable and replaceable if lost. They are available in Crescent City at Del Norte Office Supply at 240 I St and in Brookings at Wright’s Custom Framing at 810 Chetco Ave. General pre-sale season tickets are $65, Senior (65+) are $50, Student (K-College, Full-Time) are $40, and Group (4 people total) are $150. Second Saturday Art Walk: The 16th season of the Second Saturday Art Walk in Brookings continues from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Many galleries and shops in downtown Brookings as well as the Chetco Public Library will host live music, art demonstrations, and more with refreshments.

Brian Scott Gallery: Brian Scott Gallery, located at 515 Chetco Ave in Brookings, is featuring Pete Chasar for the month of July. Alongside this work, the Gallery showcases more than 25 artists. The Gallery is open tomorrow for the 4thof July from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and invites you to network while enjoying coffee, tea, and an ocean view on their patio in the Snug Studio for Brown Bag Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; tomorrow’s live music will be provided by John Marshall, SpectrumSounds. For Brookings’ Second Saturday Art Walk from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on July 13, they will feature Pete Chasar and musician Matt Stump. Fog and Fine Art Gallery: Located in Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supply at 810 Chetco Ave in Brookings, the Fog and Fine Art Gallery will feature the art of Anna Gitchell for the month of July. During the week of July 8 through July 13, they will be hosting a mini art show benefitting Brookings Harbor Community Theatre; people are welcome to donate their art for this before July 8. They display many local artists showing a variety of media including jewelry, pottery, painting, and more. The Gallery also has a dedicated classroom that inspires new and seasoned artists with workshops. The Gallery is open from 10:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Saturday. Manley Art Center and Gallery: The Manley Art Center and Gallery at 433 Oak St in Brookings is open 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Children of all ages are invited to the Center on Saturdays to see work created by member artists and to work in the classroom. The Pelican Bay Art Association is offering their Children’s Art Program with openings for the session beginning on August 6 for a fee of $30. Registration is required for all classes.
