Submitted photo – Orion Cosce improved to 3-0 as a pro with a 11-second KO on Saturday night.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from watching the Cosce brothers fight recently, it’s that you don’t want to arrive late.

Their past two pro fights have lasted a combined 19 seconds, with older brother Orion dispatching of Ryan Wilson in just 11 seconds at the Win River Casino fight night on Saturday.

The former Hoopa High wrestler improved to 3-0 as a pro with the win, and almost matched brother Louis’ eight-second finish at Bear River Casino in May.

“He just obliterated him,” said Brian Wilson of Hard Fought Productions, which promoted the event. “He just had too much horsepower for the guy.”

Orion will have a quick turnaround, with news on Tuesday that he will fight again in less than two weeks at a URCC event in San Francisco on August 10, joining Louis on the card.

It’s part of a busy summer for the brothers, who are now both 3-0 as pros, with Orion also slated to headline the next Bear River fight night on August 31.

And that’s quite a turnaround for Orion, who hadn’t previously fought since March.

Quick finish

All three of Orion’s wins in the cage have been first-round knockouts, and the Humboldt County native puts it down to his preparation.

“All my wins so far have been pretty easy, but that’s just the way I train,” he said. “I train not to lose, to get better every single day, and when I go out there I know the hardest part is over.”

Orion will face a much sterner challenge at Bear River when he fights 38-year-old Justin Baesman, an experienced pro who is 18-22-1 after starting out 13-4.

He should also be tested against Joseph Kropschot in San Francisco.

Kropschot is 4-0 as a pro after going 5-0 as an amateur.

“That’ll be the biggest test so far for Orion for sure,” said Wilson, who also owns the Lost Boys Gym in Arcata, where Orion got his start in MMA.

Louis is scheduled to fight Diego Bezerra at the URCC event.

Lots of locals

Tickets for the Bear River fight night are selling quickly, according to Wilson, no doubt in part because it will be the first opportunity for local fans to see Orion fighting in Humboldt County as a pro.

Another reason is that this card will likely feature more locals than usual.

“We’re very excited about it. It’s a huge card with a lot of locals,” said Wilson, who also promotes the Bear River events.

In addition to Orion, local favorites Andrew Guisa, Austin Moore and Jacob Hodge will all be in action.

Hodge also fought at Win River on Saturday, improving to 5-1 at 155 pounds with a 13-second KO of Jummah Muhamed, who came into the fight undefeated at 3-0.

A third Lost Boys fighter, Alex Jojin lost his debut fight at the event in a unanimous decision, but gained some valuable experience, according to Wilson.

“It was a huge success,” Wilson said of Hard Fought’s first event in Redding. “They’ve been doing fights a long time and they choose us, and that says a lot about our growth.”

Hard Fought Productions will host a second fight night in Redding on October 12.

‘Buy tickets from fighters’

Fans interested in attending any of the fights are urged to buy tickets from the fighters.

“That’s the way the fighters make their commission,” Orion said. “That’s how to support the local fighters.”

After fighting at 181 pounds at Win River, Orion will return to 170 pounds for his next two fights.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets for either event from Orion can do so through his social media accounts.
