The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the National Guard have a busy summer of marijuana eradication planned.

On Tuesday the HCSO released a video message from Sheriff Billy Honsal to respond to the numerous questions the agency has received about National Guard presence in the county. In the clip Honsal confirms that the National Guard will be assisting HCSO this summer in serving search warrants at suspected illicit marijuana grow sites across the county. 

“I want to assure people that [the National Guard] are working for me and they’re at my direction,” Honsal said. “We are working together to try and bring the illicit cannabis industry into compliance with the state law.”
