Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On June 20, 2019, at about 10:45 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a gas station on the 800 block of Redwood Drive in Garberville for a burglary that had just occurred.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the suspect, 45-year-old Vicente Ambruster, had entered the business, removed multiple items and fled on foot.
Deputies located Ambruster walking on the 700 block of Redwood Drive. When deputies made contact with Ambruster, he then fled into the parking lot of another business. Deputies observed Ambruster break a window of that business. As deputies approached Ambruster in the parking lot, they observed him carrying a large rock. Ambruster refused to obey deputies’ requests to drop the rock and instead attempted to throw the rock at deputies. At that time, a sheriff’s deputy deployed his department issued taser. Ambruster continued to physically resist deputies as he was taken into custody.
Ambruster was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, felony resisting arrest, felony vandalism, burglary, misdemeanor resisting arrest, shoplifting and trespassing.
