The Humboldt B52s opened their weekend series against the Colt 45’s with a 13-2 win at Bomber Field on Friday night, their fourth victory against the Redding squad in nine days.

Eric Smelko and Tommy Gale were instrumental in the win with three base hits each, including a double by Gale and three RBIs by Smelko.

Ryan Rivera got the win on the mound, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing just two hits and five walks, while striking out three.

Antonio Caravalho pitched three innings in relief to seal the win.

The win was the second straight for the B52s, who also defeated Team Australia 8-2 on Thursday.

The B52s, who out-hit the visitors 14-6, took control of the game with four runs in the bottom of the third inning and led 10-0 going into the seventh.

Matt Mascio and Spencer Duggan each had two hits in the win, including a double by Mascio, as the B52s improved to 12-8 on the season.

Cody Banks added a double and was walked three times.

The two clubs will continue a three-game stand at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
