An intriguing local series just got a little more so, with the announcement on Wednesday that the B52s and Eagles 19U will now play three games against each other this week.
The two local clubs feature some of the best young baseball talent in the county and were scheduled to play two games at Bomber Field on Wednesday and Friday night.
But with the news the San Francisco Seals have pulled out of a Thursday night showdown against the B52s, the Eagles have stepped in to fill the void and make it a three-game series with their Humboldt County rivals.
The B52s are a local summer collegiate team that have quickly established themselves as one of the top local sporting attractions of the summer, and feature several local college players.
The Eagles are an American Legion squad featuring an all-star lineup of local high school and young college talent.
Wednesday’s game will see former St. Bernard’s standout Garrison Finck take the hill for the Eagles on his competitive return to the North Coast.
Cameron Saso will get the start for the Eagles on Thursday and Merek Sears on Friday.
The B52s are 2-1, while the Eagles are 4-0.
All three games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
