The Humboldt Eagles scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 15-6 come-from-behind win over the Southern Humboldt 76ers at Crusader Field on Thursday.

In what was a very competitive season debut for the 76ers, who didn’t even think they’d have a team as recently as a few days ago, the Eagles had to fight all the way for this win.

The offensive highlight of the day came on a three-run Bode Joyner home run.

Ethan Pesch got the start on the mound for the Eagles, who improved to 4-1, and had a solid outing, before Keenan Morris took over in the top of the sixth and got the win.

The two pitchers held the visitors to just three hits combined.

At the plate, Lane Thrap had a big game for the Eagles, finishing 3-for-4, while Morris was 2-for-3.

Aaron Head-Mason got the start on the hill for the 76ers, with Joey Quen, Wyatt Wilson, Kaydon Pogue and Garrett Christiansen all seeing time in relief as head coach Andy Olsen went deep to his bullpen.

Unlike the Eagles, the majority of the Southern Humboldt players have not seen any game time in a month.

At the plate, Christiansen was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs, while Pogue was 1-for-1 with a sac fly and two RBIs.

The Eagles will play the Humboldt Eagles 19U on Saturday, while next up for the 76ers is a trip to Arcata to play the Northern Humboldt Giants on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
