Local athletes will have the opportunity to try out some cutting edge technology or to develop their basketball skills, while giving to a very worthy cause this Saturday.

Trey City and Next Level in Samoa will be holding a fundraiser for Lynnette Stratton, a nine-year-old Humboldt County girl who is battling cancer.

TheTrain and Chill Daywill be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include basketball clinics for grades 4-9, as well as the use of the gym’s cutting edge recovery therapies, such as the cryotherapy chamber, all for donations.

Lynnette was diagnosed with Sarcoma cancer in February of this year and is undergoing treatment at UCSF.

A go fund me page has been set up to help with expenses, with Trey City and Next Level stepping in to help.

The cryotherapy chamber, used regularly by local pro MMA fighter Cass Bell in preparation for his fights, has become a popular recovery therapy for top athletes.

In addition, on Saturday local athletes can try out the gym’s PEMF Bemer Mat and the Juvent Micro-Impact Platform, both of which are used to promote bone health, speed recovery and relieve pain.

Two basketball clinics for grades 4-9 will also be offered for donations, with the girls clinic running from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the boys clinic running from 12:30-2 p.m.

Both clinics will be run by Arcata High boys head coach Dusty Scofield.

Trey City and Next Level is located at 900 Vance Ave in Samoa.
