The Humboldt Crabs exploded for 22 runs on 17  hits in Redding on Thursday night, holding on for a 22-12 win despite giving up nine runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The win capped a two-game sweep over the Colt 45’s as the Crabs improved to 2-3 on the season ahead of Friday night’s weekend series opener at home to the Seattle Studs.

Damian Henderson remained hot for the Crabs, who led 18-1 at one stage.

One night after hitting a triple and a home run, Henderson finished 3-for-6 with a double and a triple.

Not to be out-done, Bryce Kirk had two hits, a home run and a triple, while former CR and Fortuna star Kokko Figueiredo had a triple, a double and three walks.

Riley Cleary got the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings work, while also striking out eight.

The Crabs scored 34 runs in their two wins at Redding.

The Crabs and Studs play Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Ball Park.
