On June 6th, 2019, at approximately 1350 hours, Edward Andrews of Citrus Heights, CA. was driving his 2008 Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle 110 motorcycle northbound on US-101, just north of Cummings Road, within the number three lane. At the time, Andrews was traveling through a left-hand curve in the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, Andrews allowed the Harley Davidson to travel off the east roadway edge of northbound US-101, down a descending embankment where he overturned and was ejected. As a result of the collision, Andrews suffered major injuries and was transported by Reach air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

The number 3 lane was closed for approximately 20 minutes for emergency personnel to transport Andrews. Andrews was evaluated on scene and DUI did not appear to be a factor.

Cal-Fire, Laytonville Fire, Cal trans, Reach Air and Laytonville Ambulance assisted with traffic control and medical aid.
