Frances Summers was born on May 31, 1929 at 12:00 a.m. She would always joke with us that she had two birthdays — May 31 and June 1. Since she was born at midnight each parent would say a different day was her birthday, so she decided they both were.

She left this life to move to her final destination on April 20, 2019 at the age of 89.

Her parents were natives of Gumalgio, Switzerland. They came to the United States in 1907, making their home in Ferndale as dairy ranchers. In 1938 the family moved to Fortuna, where she met and married her husband, Ray Summers, in 1955. In 1969 Frances and Ray moved to Rio Dell, where they lived the rest for their lives. Together Frances and Ray owned North Coast Car and Truck Restaurant in Eureka and then went on to own Humboldt Pacific Transport in Rio Dell. She loved animals and taking car rides. If you had the time to talk with her, she would talk for hours.

She is survived by her sister Doris Davenport, niece Lisa Wilson (Shane),  great niece Jaeden Wilson. She is proceeded in death by her husband Ray Summers, parents Chelso and Assunta Pedrotti, brother Eligio Pedrotti, and great-nephew Boddie Wilson.

She is resting in a place where there are no days or years and where she has no limitations of the body, soul or mind. She will be forever missed!

Special thanks to Dr. Olkin and staff and Fortuna Rehab for their time and care.
