Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
Local businesses and organizations are invited to join the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office for this year’s inmate Reentry Fair.
The award-winning Reentry Fair is taking place April 16-17, 2019 at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. This two-day event is designed to connect Humboldt County inmates with essential services available post-release, as well as employment opportunities.
On Tuesday, April 16, community service providers will meet with inmates and share materials connecting them with essential services available post-release. Some of these services include housing, food security, transportation, child welfare services, tribal services, education and more.
On Wednesday, April 17, county employers will provide the opportunity for inmates to speak about employment opportunities and other pertinent information about employment upon release from the facility. This type of candid contact with employers is intended to encourage inmates to pursue socially productive opportunities in our community and enables the incarcerated to set healthy goals for reentry.
The Sheriff’s Office takes a progressive approach to rehabilitation by providing vocational, educational and treatment-based programs to currently incarcerated people. The Correctional Facility’s Re-entry Fair was awarded the 2018 California State Association of Counties’ (CSAC) Challenge Award for its innovative perspective on reducing recidivism through community partnership.
The Re-Entry Fair will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. within the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. This event is not a public event, but service providers and employers are welcome to participate. To register your business or organization for the fair, please contact Programs Coordinator Stefan Logie at (707) 441-5137 or slogie1@co.humboldt.ca.us
