The Arcata Tigers swept all nine matches for a 9-0 win over the Crusaders in boys tennis at St. Bernard’s on Thursday afternoon.
With the victory, the high-flying Tigers improved to 8-0 in the Humboldt-Del Norte League.
The Crusaders’ top two singles players gave the Tigers the most trouble, with Robin Zhao pushing Arcata’s Yasko Massias all the way in the No. 1 matchup, before eventually falling 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
At No. 2 singles, Arcata’s Art Frye defeated Peter Mak, 6-4, 7-5.
Spencer Olson, Conner Olson, Zane Taylor and Finn Grewe each also won their singles matchups.
In doubles play, Leo Janzen and Spencer Olson teamed up to defeat the SB pairing of Zhao and Mak by a score of 8-2.
Frye and Conner Olson teamed up at No. 2 to beat Quan Tu and Louis He, 8-0, while at No. 3, Taylor and Grewe defeated Leikey Limlei and Shane Zhao, also by a score of 8-0
Arcata is scheduled to play next at Eureka High on Saturday, weather permitting.
