Fortuna Police Department release:
As part of an ongoing investigation, Fortuna Police Detectives served a search warrant, on March 21st, at a property on the 1800 block of Alamar Way where they located Jahon Smith of Compton, California.
While officers were making entry they observed Smith disposing of a large amount of suspected Methamphetamine. However, our officers were able to retrieve at least 21 Grams of suspected Methamphetamine which was taken as evidence.
Officers took Smith into custody and charged him with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for sale.
- Possession of Marijuana for Sale
- Destroying Evidence
Based on additional information, Fortuna Officers responded to a property located on Riverwalk Drive, where they located and arrested two individuals with outstanding warrants; Michael Ray Thurston, of Fortuna and Nora Hunter, from Shasta County (also known as Nora Curato).
Thurston was wanted by local authorities on seven outstanding warrants stemming from suspected substance abuse violations.
Hunter had three outstanding felony warrants for her arrest out of Shasta County for charges including:
- Possession of an explosive device
- Illegal discharge of a firearm
All three of the individuals were taken into custody and placed in Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
