The Corsairs are proving to be an exciting team to watch in softball this season.

Four of their six conference games so far have been decided by just a single run, while a fifth was a two-run affair.

On Saturday, they dropped both ends of a doubleheader at conference leaders Feather River by just one run, losing game one 2-1 and the nightcap 8-7 in 10 innings.

In the opener, Redwoods took a one-run lead in the top of the first, but the home team answered in the bottom half of the inning and opened up a 2-1 lead in the third.

It was all they would need in a low-scoring game.

Ashley Stockwell took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, allowing six hits, with the CR offense managing just three hits.

Amy Reyes was 2-for-2, while Becca Tripp finished 1-for-3.

In game two, CR led 3-0, but the conference leaders scored twice in the fourth to pull within one, and tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

The visitors opened up a three-run lead in the top of the eighth, only for the home team to rally again, before securing the win in the bottom of the 10th.

The Corsairs out-hit the Golden Eagles 13-9, led by Adriana Chavez who finished 3-for-5.

Reyes, Juliana Ortega-Miranda, Lindsey Scott and Dakota Small each finished with a pair of hits, including a triple by Small.

Ortega-Miranda and Small each had two RBIs, while Reyes had one.

Lily Peterson and Pheobe Marsh also had a hit each.

Scott pitched six innings for a no decision, while Ortega-Miranda took the loss in relief.

Feather River remains unbeaten in the GVC at 6-0 (11-13 overall), while CR falls to 2-4 and 6-14.

CR will finally play its home opener with a pair of doubleheaders next weekend.
