Early in the collegiate softball season, sophomore Hailey Dolcini is fast emerging as the ace of the Fresno State staff.
Dolcini, a former Fortuna High standout, has been impressive since joining the team this year, after transferring from UC Riverside, where she played as a freshman.
Through 14 games, Dolcini leads the team in wins, ERA and innings pitched, as well as starting a team-high six games.
The four-time Big 5 MVP is 4-1 with an ERA of 1.56, posting exactly half of the Bulldogs’ wins.
She also has a team-best three complete games.
After struggling in a loss to California Baptist two weeks ago, Dolcini responded last week with one of her best performances of the year, striking out a season-high 11 in a 4-1 win over Loyola Marymount.
The Bulldogs (8-6) had a couple of games rained out last weekend, but are scheduled to host the Bulldog Classic this week, with the action getting under way on Thursday.
