Thunderstorms are possible in areas of the Emerald Triangle today.

Eureka’s National Weather Service office reports that Trinity County and eastern areas Mendocino County have the highest chance of seeing thunderstorms.

However, Eastern Humboldt and Del Norte Counties could also see thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

“Remember, when dark clouds approach, seek shelter immediately inside a building or a vehicle,” the NWS stated on social media today. “Lightning can strike without any warning and sometimes several miles from the parent cloud.”

Additional thunderstorms are possible tomorrow and Saturday.
