With Arcata’s top two receivers both sidelined through injury this weekend, the Tigers turned to senior Hayden Santsche, and he didn’t disappoint.
Santsche, who has been enjoying a productive season at linebacker, took up the slack in the passing attack against the Warriors, pulling in three TD catches, all of them from quarterback Mathew Robinson.
The second of the three was good for 21 yards and came early in the third quarter on a wonderful leaping grab by the senior at the back of the end zone, on an equally wonderful throw.
Check out the video highlights of all three of the Robinson to Santsche touchdowns.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 2-1 in the Little 4.
They play at Ferndale next Saturday in a game that will have a big say in the destination of this year’s championship.
Receivers Raven Perez and Niko Zambas each picked up injuries last week and were sidelined for the Hoopa game.
Head coach Jamal Jones said Perez is out for the season but he is hopeful Zambas will return for the Ferndale game.
