Senior quarterback Trevor Bell is listed as a game-day decision for the Eureka Loggers as they get set to welcome the Fortuna Huskies to Albee Stadium for a homecoming matchup on Saturday.
The game is also the Big 4 opener for both teams, heightening the importance of the showdown with the playoffs now just three weeks away.
And for now at least, there’s no definitive word on the availability of Bell, who missed last weekend’s game at Chico with a rolled ankle suffered on the final play of Tuesday’s practice a week ago.
Without their starting QB, the Loggers struggled in a 35-0 loss to the Panthers, their first shutout offensively in four years.
Head coach Jason White and his players are hoping Bell will be ready to go by Saturday night, but was giving nothing away after practice on Tuesday evening, not surprisingly saying only that it will be a game-day decision.
One bit of good news for the Loggers is the fact they have an extra day to prepare, with a rare Saturday night showdown under the lights at Albee because of the homecoming festivities.
A young Huskies team has struggled this season to a 2-5 record, falling at home to Foothill this past weekend by a score of 35-20.
Game time on Saturday is set for 6:30 p.m.
