If you want to get a seat for Saturday’s big showdown between Eureka and St. Bernard’s at Crusader Field, you better get there early.
The crosstown rivals will meet on the football field for just the third time ever and a large crowd is expected to be on hand.
The two programs played 12 months ago for the first time in over 50 years at Albee Stadium in front a huge crowd there.
Seating at Crusader Field, however, is nowhere near as plentiful.
“We’re expecting a monster crowd,” St. Bernard’s head coach Matt Tomlin said.
Adding to the excitement, many people feel the Crusaders have a great chance to knock off their crosstown rivals, who are struggling with injuries right now.
Quarterback Trevor Bell and defensive standout Chase “Biscuit” Steubing are both carrying injuries suffered at practice and unlikely to play.
The Crusaders tried to add extra seating for the big game, but were unable to do so.
Game time is set for 1 p.m.
