Charlotte K. Horton, a native and life long resident of Arcata, went to her eternal reward on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at the Ida Emmerson Hospice House in Eureka.

Charlotte was born August 6, 1927 to Wilbur and Jessie Enderson of Arcata. There, she was reared and educated, graduating from Arcata High School in 1945.

She met the love of her life — Roy D. Horton, a sailor stationed at the McKinleyville Naval Air Station — in February 1944 while at the Arcata Roller Rink. They married on Nov. 23, 1944 and made their home in Arcata where they reared their three children together. Roy D. Horton worked as a Saw Filer for Georgia Pacific and served as the Pastor of the Korbel-Blue Lake Community Church for 35 years, with Charlotte at his side.

Roy preceded Charlotte in death in 1996.

Charlotte is remembered for her loving caring spirit towards others especially of family and elderly church members. She was a member of the North Fork Community Church in McKinleyville.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shirley and Larry Blair of Quincy Ca. Roy W. Horton and Renee Horton of Fortuna and Beverly and Marty Bence of Eureka, and by five grand children and five great grand children and one great great Grand daughter and by her brother Bill and Teta Enderson of Redding. Brother in law Earl Chapman of Orville. She was preceded in death by two sisters Regine Janes and Florence Chapman.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. at the North Fork Community Church on Pickett Road in McKinleyville. The Reverend James Ray will be officiating. Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Eureka.

The family wishes to thank Gobles Mortuary in Fortuna for the wonderful care towards our mother.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Humboldt County. Hospice was amazing and wonderful. They were our angels in our time of grief. We will never forget the wonderful staff there that made Momma’s transition to heaven a celebration of life. Thank You Hospice and God Bless YOU!
