On Friday, the school’s men’s soccer team lost 1-0 to Chabot, ending the Corsairs’ three game winning streak.

The CR men are now 3-4-1.

Also on Saturday, the CR volleyball team beat Napa in five sets, 25-18, 20-25, 27-29, 25-23, 15-6.

After that two-hour match, the CR women then fell in straight sets to Los Positas, 25-19, 25-12, 25-17.

Both matches were at the Napa Valley Classic.

Former Arcata standout Kaylin Campbell continued to set the tone for the Corsairs on both sides of the ball, finishing with 18 kills, 10 digs and four blocks in the win.

“It was a pretty solid game for Kaylin,” head coach Petra Lorenzi said. “We ran most of our offense through her.”

Ariana Gallegos also had a big game for CR, finishing with eight kills, eight digs and 44 assists and picking up the energy of her game.

Ashlyn Maddeoux added 11 digs, six kills and four aces.

“Her offense opened up the court for a lot of our other hitters,” Lorenzi said.

Lexi Goodman finished with 12 service aces.

Against Los Positas, Campbell led the team with nine kills.

The Corsairs (2-10) return to Eureka to begin conference play in their home opener against a highly-ranked Butte team on Friday at 6 p.m.
