You’ll need to find another way to kick-off your summer

Well, shucks, it’s official. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the 2020 edition of the Arcata Bay Oyster Festival unsurprisingly will not be happening June 20 as ‘twas previously scheduled. Arcata Main Street, the organization that stages the event each year and relies on the revenue generated for a large chunk of their budget, has posted the following brief message confirming the bummer on its website:

Oyster Festival is postponed tentatively until later this summer. We are patiently waiting the direction of our federal government and will update as soon as we have clear direction.

Please check back in June for more information

Arcata Main Street board member Ceva Courtemanche told the Outpost that the organization continues to have discussions on how to move forward. The board still meets on Tuesdays and she encouraged oyster fans to keep checking the AMS website for updates.

Vendors and others with questions or concerns are invited to contact the AMS.

If it somehow comes together, this would be Oyster Fest’s 30th year.
