Have you been laid off or are you expecting to be laid off due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic? The North Coast Small Business Development Center would like to help you figure out ways to move forward.

On Friday, April 24 from 2-3:30 p.m. the SBDC will host a Humboldt Employee Layoff Help Event, a Zoom webinar featuring representatives from several local organizations who aim to help “guide you to financial help, food and income help, job search and retraining help, and more.” (Scroll down for tips on how to use Zoom).

In order to participate you must register at this link by 9 a.m. on Friday. Those who sign up will receive a Zoom meeting link shortly after registration closes.

Read the full SBDC release promoting the event below:

This is an Employee Layoff Help Event for employees in Humboldt County who have been or will be laid off. Normally these “layoff help” events are done on site in a single company with a group of employees facing layoffs. The COVID-19 pandemic demands we adapt this approach, so these are virtual events hosting employees from multiple businesses.

Humboldt Employees: get online together for a briefing about the help available for you if you’re facing layoffs or have been laid off. North Coast SBDC, The Smart Center, Humboldt’s local Employment Development Department, Humboldt Department of Health and Human Services, and a financial advisor from Coast Central Community Credit Union guide you to financial help, food and income help, job search and re-training help, and more.

Registration closes Friday, 4/24/2020 at 9 am. All participants will receive Zoom meeting link shortly after 9 am by or before that Friday.

ABOUT ZOOM VIDEO/AUDIO MEETINGS

How to use Zoom to access services virtually: Zoom is the videoconferencing service SBDC uses to deliver our workshops live. It’s flexible—can be used as a phone service or a videoconference service. Please make sure that you have downloaded and installed the Zoom program on your computer in advance. It’s fairly fast and easy, but does take a few minutes. And if this is your first time here is a short video tutorial on YouTube from Geeks on Tour: How do I join a Zoom meeting?
