Kevin Thompson, right, once portrayed an Ewok — maybe one of the ones pictured here, but it’s hard to say | Submitted

Mark your calendars. This is happening. Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission press release:

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission will be hosting a Facebook Live event with veteran actor Kevin Thompson, known for his portrayal of Chubbray the Ewok in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

As an Ewok stuntman, Mr. Thompson can be seen swinging into the Ewok village, battling storm troopers, escaping explosions, shooting arrows, in the trees chopping ropes and blowing the horn to signal the start of the battle of Endor.

The online event is scheduled for 5 p.m. on May the Fourth, known as Star Wars Day by fans, as it is a play on the famous line “May the Force be with you,” from the Star Wars films. The Facebook Live event will feature stories of Mr. Thompson’s experiences filming the classic sci-fi movie in the Redwood Region, which was the prime location for the forest moon of Endor. Released in 1983, the film was the final installment of the original Star Wars trilogy and cemented the region’s redwood trees in film history. In addition to his stories, the actor will also be answering questions from fans which can be submitted in the comments during the live event.

To watch and participate, visit the film commissions Facebook Page on Monday, May 4 at 5 p.m.
