Eureka Police Remove 18 Trespassers From Boarded Up Fourth Street Building
Eureka Police Department press release:
On April 29, 2020, at about 1:45 p.m., Detectives with the Eureka Police Department’s
Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) removed 18 illegal trespassers and boarded up a
property on the 1200 block of 4th Street due to ongoing criminal activity.
This action was in response to numerous complaints from neighbors and business owners
of drug use, drug dealing, prostitution, and assaults. The trespassers had been advised
they were not allowed on scene during a prior contact with EPD on March 31, 2020. The
owner of the building lives out of state and has never leased or rented the location. All
18 trespassers were found to be there illegally and were removed. New Life Services
responded and boarded up the building.
10 of the 18 trespassers were on probation and 6 had warrants. Due to the current Covid-
19 situation, all were advised on their warrants. Resource and housing options were
made available and one person was directly connected with Betty Chinn.
The inside and outside of the building had been trashed and hundreds of hypodermic
needles were laying around. A bicycle that was reported as stolen on April 24th from the
2600 block of 6th Street in Eureka was recovered.
Anyone with information regarding ongoing drug or nuisance activity in the City of
Eureka is asked to call EPD’s POP Team at (707) 441-4373.
