Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:
On August 13, 2020, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF), with the assistance from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Main St. in Trinidad.
The vehicle was stopped for expired registration and displaying false registration tabs. The driver of the vehicle, 50-year-old Jody Martin of Redding, was detained for driving on a suspended license and displaying false registration tabs on a vehicle. Martin was not in possession of any form of identification.
Agents searched the vehicle in an attempt to locate identification for Martin. Under the driver’s seat agents located a plastic bag that contained approx. 250 Xanax pills. In the trunk of the vehicle agents located a black duffle bag that contained approx. 10,000 Xanax pills and a half ounce of methamphetamine.
Martin was interviewed at the scene. Deputies towed Martin’s vehicle for expired registration over six months. Agents will forward a case to the Humboldt County District Attorney requesting the following charges be filed:
- H&S 11351, 11352: Possession and transportation of controlled substances for sales
- H&S 11379: Transportation of methamphetamine
- VC 4462.5: Display false registration on a vehicle
- VC 14601: Driving on a suspended license
