Hometown hero Libby “Capt. Zippo” Tonning was among the people tasked with somehow un-sticking an upside-down Cessna from Arcata Bay this morning, and she reports: Success!

Once again, Zippo sends the Outpost photos from the scene. It seems that a Mercer-Fraser barge outfitted with a crane was able to yank the plane out of the mud — hopefully accompanied by a loud, satisfying thwooooop! — carried it over to the barge, and set it down in or on what appears to be a specially constructed containment structure.

Zippo says she believes they’re going to unload it near the chip export dock on the Eureka waterfront soon.
