CHP press release:

Arcata, CA – The California Highway Patrol has recently been made aware of a video posted to Facebook that appears to show a vehicle weaving across both lanes, at high speed, on a wet road. An officer has been assigned to investigate this incident and is working to verify the video’s authenticity and to identify the driver. Whether the driver was impaired, distracted, or intentionally driving in the manner observed in the video, it could have resulted in a collision causing serious injury or death.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in alcohol-involved collisions in California from 2016-2018. During that same time, nearly 80,000 others were injured, statewide under similar circumstances. Also, it is estimated that more than 1.5 million crashes are caused each year by drivers using cell phones and texting. If you are aware of, or observe, an impaired or distracted driver, please notify law enforcement. By working together with the community, we can help to make our streets safer.
