On Jan. 13, 2020, at about 5:30 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the area of Central Avenue and Northbank Road in McKinleyville attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Eureka.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to the deputy and a pursuit ensued. Deputies pursued the vehicle for several miles through McKinleyville and onto U.S. Highway 101. During the pursuit, while attempting to cross the Highway 101 median, the suspect vehicle collided with a K-Rail and became disabled under the 11th Street overcrossing in Arcata. The suspect then fled the vehicle on foot.
Deputies were unable to locate the suspect after searching the surrounding area. No description or identifying information is available for the suspect at this time.
