The power of the ocean was yet again on display during this weekend’s King Tide leading to a scary caught-on-camera moment up at Moonstone Beach. 

Facebook user Marcella Ogata-Day posted footage taken on Saturday, Jan. 11 of a sneaker wave knocking three people off their feet as they approached the Moonstone Beach parking lot. “Everyone was okay and a lot more alert,” Ogata-Day reported on her Facebook page. She further opined that she hoped viewers would not judge the people who were unexpectedly caught up in the whitewash.

“Any one of us could be there on that bank near the parking lot checking out the high tide,” she wrote. “Any one of us can be walking along a beach on a nice sunny day and a surge comes up and pulls a dog, a friend, a family member unexpectedly. Awareness and understanding will help.”
