We at the Outpost were even briefly confused today after being sent a link to a news story saying the governor would allow bars, dine-in restaurants and other businesses to reopen in 22 counties, including Humboldt.

A quick Google search revealed that the story was wrongey-wrong-wrong. (It has since been corrected.) But apparently the misinformation spread fast.

Here’s a clarifying press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

The Humboldt County Joint Information Center has received multiple calls about false texts and news reports announcing the reopening of bars and dine-in restaurants. These reports are incorrect. A statewide closure of these facilities remains in effect per state orders.

All bars are to remain closed, and the following sectors are allowed to operate outdoors only:

  • Dine-in restaurants
  • Wineries and tasting rooms
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers (for example: bowling alleys, miniature golf, batting cages and arcades)
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms.
