Bruce H Georgeson was born In Eureka to Franklin Thompson (Tom) Georgeson and Karen Hope on August 1, 1962, and passed away in his sleep due to heart failure February 28, 2020 at age of 57.

Bruce attended Marshall Elementary, Big Lagoon Elementary, Zane Junior High and Eureka Senior High School. After school he moved to Marin County and went to work for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, first at the Novato branch then later moving to Phoenix Arizona. He was instrumental in keeping the emergency backup systems on track and traveling to off-site main frame data locations across the states. He eventually left that job and took a position Charles Schwab then settled at CGI working nights maintaining data until he took an early retirement when his dad was diagnosed with cancer. He worked IT before it was a thing. He loved electronics and gadgets, so this was perfect for him.

Bruce had a knack of remembering the details of fun times in the past. He would get us all laughing during family dinners and holiday gatherings with his stories of their childhood. There were lots of stories to tell, too. He would recall the family trips they took, quarter midget racing (and winning!), tormenting (with affection) his younger siblings, and the escapades with all their cousins (somewhere around 40 on the Hope side!). He grew up in Eureka and also spent time at Big Lagoon as a kid. Upon moving back to Humboldt from Arizona to be closer to his family Bruce returned to Big Lagoon. It was a place he enjoyed many experiences growing up such as fishing, agate hunting, swimming and just being a boy. He was happy to be home.

When Bruce found something he enjoyed he would really get into it. He was always awaiting new levels on Candy Crush. He always had at least two guinea pigs but most times more. He was an excellent chef with a pantry of exotic flavors. During his years in Arizona he built rockets and took part in desert launches that he would tell us of getting FAA clearance to launch the big ones. He was great with computers — after the PSPSs he was setting up a solar power system to keep them all running. He had a unique sense of humor, finding irony in lots of this world. He had a generous and kind heart but did not want praise or acknowledgment of his kind deeds. He only had a few serious relationships in his life, but they were deep, and he was always fully committed.

Bruce is preceded by his father Franklin Thompson (Tom) Georgeson, Grandparents, Frank and Margaret Georgeson and George T and Gladys Campbell Hope, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Bruce leaves behind his loving family; Mother Karen Hope and stepmother Murline Georgeson, Brothers Brian (Laurie) and Dave (Dana), sisters Sarah and Andrea. He will also be missed by his Nephews, Lucas, Wyatt, Gage, Brandon and Casey and his niece Tacy. He leaves his many loving Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and their families. He will be missed by many friends. We want to say a special thanks to Andy and Darcy Gray for their support during this difficult time and for fostering the guinea pigs!

We will celebrate Bruce at a later date, once we can gather, hug, talk and cry together.

To Bruce we want to say — this year has been hard, we lost you right when the world went a bit crazy. Were sorry for the time it has taken to honor your memory but writing this leaves such a sadness, you are gone way to soon. We will miss your stories, your generosity (even if you tried to hide it), and your presence, family dinner night will never be the same without you and your fabulous Tabasco selection!!

Rest easy our dear son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, we miss you.
