The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met in closed session this afternoon to discuss threatened litigation by HumCPR, among a few other things.
You remember HumCPR, right? The private corporation, whose full name was the Humboldt Coalition for Property Rights, was founded more than a decade ago by Libertarian-leaning Kneeland resident and property owner Lee Ulansey.
HumCPR really rose to prominence and power during the county’s prolonged General Plan Update process. Its members and followers pushed to weaken environmental protections and expand private property rights in the name of protecting a “rural lifestyle.”
Before getting elected Second District Supervisor in 2012, Estelle Fennell spent nearly three years as HumCPR’s executive director. Her appointee to the Planning Commission was Bob Morris, a professional forester and property manager who’d served as HumCPR’s treasurer and agent of service. Soon thereafter, Ulansey was appointed to an at-large position on the Planning Commission.
HumCPR has sued the county several times
