It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the 124th Humboldt County Fair, which was scheduled for August 20-30, 2020.
This difficult decision was made by the Humboldt County Fair Board of directors and was not a matter that was taken lightly. The Board values the well-being of our community and visitors and has been closely following the California Roadmap to Recovery with regard to mass gatherings, such as our beloved Fair.
The Humboldt County fair is one of the largest annual events in Humboldt County. We take pride in this event being one that brings the community together. The economic impact of cancellation will be challenging as this event brings increases to local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and shopping. We believe the health of our community is important and we look forward to celebrating the return of the fair with our community in 2021.
The Fair Board and Junior Livestock Auction Committee will continue to support youth livestock exhibitors through the completion and sale of their 2020 livestock projects. Updates will be provided in the coming weeks as a plan is initiated for the showcase and sale of these projects.
