The Eureka Salvation Army will hand out over 400 food boxes to individuals and families in need this Sunday, May 31.

Eureka Salvation Army Officer Loretta Scott told the Outpost that the boxes will include food items, such as pasta and canned goods, as well as toilet paper and paper towels.

Distribution begins at noon, but volunteers will be outside starting at 11:30 a.m. to help guide people on where to go and to help make the event as streamline as possible, Scott said.

To help keep everyone safe, Scott said, the organization asks that people wear masks or facial coverings while picking up a box.

What: The Salvation Army of Eureka will hold a drive-thru food box distribution event at their corps location to help hundreds of families in need. The 400 food boxes were given to the Eureka nonprofit by another Salvation Army location in Northern California. Volunteers will help distribution the boxes, following safety guidelines set forth by the city, county and state.
