One Arrested for Assault After Relationship Dispute in Eureka Homeless Camp
Eureka Police Department press release:
On November 16, 2020, the Eureka Police Department’s Community Safety and
Enhancement Team (CSET) responded to St. Joseph Hospital for the report of an
assault which occurred at an encampment south of Pound Road in Eureka.
Based on the
investigation, it was determined Raelee Childers (33 of Eureka) and the female victim
were involved in a dispute over a relationship. Childers struck the victim on the arm
with a baseball bat causing significant injury.
Childers and the victim are known to each other and it does not appear to be a random
assault.
On November 17, 2020, Childers was located by CSET and transported and
booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for assault with a deadly
weapon causing serious bodily injury.
