With the fast-moving Hopkins Fire prompting evacuations for a wide area of Southern Humboldt, the City of Rio Dell is doing its part to offer a helping hand to evacuees.
According to a press release sent out by City Manager Kyle Knopp this afternoon, a makeshift water station has been set up in front of Rio Dell City Hall and will be open for at least the next 24 hours to provide those in need with access to free, potable water.
From the City of Rio Dell:
The City of Rio Dell is opening a water station at the City Hall parking lot, located at 675 Wildwood Avenue. The self-serve station will be available to fire evacuees and their animals with potable water at any time for at least the next 24 hours. The station will consist of two hose stations for water distribution.
Rio Dell City Hall can be reached from northbound US101 by taking the Davis Street Exit (Exit 680), turning west and proceeding to the corner of Davis Street and Wildwood Avenue.
