A man from Camas, Washington was arrested for allegedly boating under the influence in Humboldt Bay on Monday after his boat plowed into another vessel and a wood piling near Coast Seafoods.
Captain Patrick Foy of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife told the Outpost that 67-year-old Carroll Richard Johnson was taken into custody by numerous police agencies at approximately 2:30 p.m. after he was combative with the first marine enforcement officer on scene.
“A member of the public called the Coast Guard and they alerted the [CDFW Marine Enforcement Division],” Foy said. “Because the subject was not compliant and combative, he asked for assistance from the Eureka Police Department and the U.S. Coast guard.”
While Johnson’s main address is in Washington, Foy said that he also maintains a P.O. box in Eureka. However, due to the ongoing investigation, Foy was unwilling to say whether or not Johnson operates a fishing vessel in the Humboldt area.
Johnson was booked into the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office on charges of disorderly conduct while under the influence and probation violation for a previous DUI offense.
