Convicted Felon Found With Stolen Firearm, Drugs After Foot Chase, EPD Says

On February 8, 2021, at about 1:30 p.m., detectives with the Eureka Police
Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) served a search warrant on 39-
year-old Eureka resident, William Lindsey at his apartment on the 1000 block of 4 th
Street. The warrant was obtained for possession of controlled substances and unlawful
possession of firearms.
As detectives were preparing to serve the warrant, Lindsey was observed leaving the
apartment on his bicycle. Lindsey fled on the bicycle and a short pursuit began. Lindsey
was ultimately taken into custody near the 1100 block of 2nd Street.
Lindsey was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm which was concealed in his
waistband. Through a records check, the firearm was confirmed to have been reported
stolen during a December 2020 residential burglary in Eureka. Lindsey was also in
possession of 1 gram of methamphetamine and .15 grams of heroin.
Lindsey was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of a
controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed
weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of methamphetamine, possession
of heroin, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of stolen property, and PRCS
probation violation.
