Well, wow! LoCO is humbled by the fact that Humboldt’s musically ambitious folk saw fit to bless us with more than FIFTY entries for our SINGING IN SOLITUDE LOVE SONG CONTEST. You are all extremely bored, lucky for us! Thank you for using that time and energy to entertain your cooped-up community. Our ears runneth over.

McKenna Miller, legit pipes

But the noon buzzer hath buzzed. There must be a winner. And so we’re pleased and honored to announce that 14-year-old MCKENNA MILLER has garnered the most Facebook vote reactions with her version of Rihanna’s “Stay.” Congrats, McKenna, and thank you for sharing your voice with Humboldt! Tell your mom to check her Facebook messages so we can figure out this prize business, yeah?

(View McKenna’s winning entry here. Sorry to those who’ve fled Facebook. We get it.)

Oh! Also, for coming in second place, a big wow and thank you goes out to JARED STAINBROOK for his beautiful original song “To Feel Like You” dedicated to his ailing mother. LoCO hopes you both find some joy in this victory. We’ll reach out to work out your prize, too.

Thank you, Jared! Give Humboldt’s love to mom.

And if you haven’t yet taken the time, we encourage everyone to scroll through the comment section on the official contest post to peruse all the musical videos Humboldt crafted for this thing. Some were earnest. Some were silly. All were appreciated.

Again, applause to all who participated and thanks to the Benbow Inn, and The Inn at 2nd & C for supplying our musicians with motivation! This contest was more fun than LoCO expected. We will do something like this again soon! There are things to be hopeful about! The days are getting longer! We got this! Hooray!
