A 9-year-old boy has died after reportedly suffering from an unspecified medical emergency in the Ingomar Club pool within the grounds of the Carson Mansion in Eureka on Saturday.

Humboldt Bay Fire responded to the scene on the 100 block of M Street to provide medical aid for an unresponsive person in the pool at approximately 5:11 p.m. The Eureka Police Department was also dispatched to the scene to assist firefighters with the emergency.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Samantha Karges told the Outpost that the 9-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

It’s unclear if a cause of death has been determined at this time. No criminal investigation is being conducted in connection to the incident.
