Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:
On March 10, 2021, at about 6:40 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to King Salmon for a search and rescue of a possible drowning victim.
Deputies arrived and began searching the shoreline for the victim while a United States Coast Guard helicopter searched from the air.
At about 6:52 p.m., deputies located the 21-year-old male victim alive but in distress, stuck in the rocks along the shore. Deputies scaled down the rocks to the victim’s location and were able to free him, keeping him safe until medical rescue teams arrived.
The victim was extricated from the rocks and taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
